Workshops and Presentations

Author and Professor Emerita Sarah Kuhn offers workshops, presentations, and consultations on improving teaching and learning using a Thinking With Things approach.

Workshops

Thinking With Things 101 is a three-hour introduction to the theory and practice of teaching in a more effective and engaging way, taking advantage of the ways in which we evolved to learn: with our hands, our bodies, and our immediate environments. This interactive, hands-on workshop models the theory and practice of the Thinking With Things approach to instruction, and sets participants on a path to create innovative ways to teach concepts in their own disciplines. Designed for college and university faculty, this workshop can also be adapted for other audiences.

Custom workshops, designed for a specific audience and in response to a specific teaching challenge, are also possible.

Presentations

Presentations to faculty, staff, parents, corporate clients, libraries, bookstores, and the public are available for booking.

Consulting

In conjunction with a workshop or presentation, one-on-one and group consultations with faculty, teaching center staff, and others can be arranged. Even a brief consultation can help address a teaching challenge, especially for introductory courses where a firm grasp of key concepts is essential.
