About Sarah Kuhn
I am an Educator, Author, Workshop Leader, Speaker, and Instigator. I am also Professor Emerita in the Department of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, USA. Before beginning my thirty-year teaching career, I received a PhD in Urban Studies and Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Social Psychology from Harvard University. I am the author of numerous articles, including several on aspects of learning with things in interdisciplinary, studio-based, and community settings. An engaging and experienced speaker and presenter, I have worked with faculty, administrators, students, business groups, and the public to introduce Thinking With Things approaches in a variety of settings.
I offer hands-on workshops, book talks, and consulting on topics related to my book, Transforming Learning Through Tangible Instruction: The Case for Thinking With Things. My long term goal is to partner with interested faculty from across the disciplines to develop curriculum modules that will support the teaching of key concepts using a Thinking With Things approach.
